frequently asked questions

What is nutritional therapy?

Nutritional therapy is centered on the idea that real, metabolic health can be achieved through a holistic and bioindividual approach to nutrition and lifestyle. I believe that most of our modern health problems are a direct result of mistreating our bodies with the franken-foods on our plates and in our grocery stores. My science based, holistic approach to nutrition looks at each micronutrient, how they work together with one another, and how they impact the body, to hopefully reverse some of the damage the western diet has caused. Nutrition is the foundation of health, and each generation is getting sicker, younger. My goal with nutritional therapy is to empower women to support themselves, their growing babies and their families with a properly prepared, nutrient dense, whole food diet.

Is nutritional therapy right for me?

I’m going to go out on a limb and say YES. Probably. Most likely. Definitely. Ok but really, my honest answer is yeah, it’s going to be beneficial. At least one of the three options I offer. I strongly believe that nutrition is the foundation of health. Why? Because it’s the one thing that every single human has to do every single day, multiple times a day. If your nutrition is suffering, eventually, other things will come crumbling down. You might’ve heard the expression “you can’t out exercise a bad diet” or “you can’t out supplement a bad diet” and it’s so true. Our society over values physical appearance more than metabolic health. The result is lots of skinny-fat people, walking around looking hot, but inviting in chronic disease. Cut the diet crap, book a discovery call with me, and let’s talk about how to actually improve your metabolic markers through nutrition. This will actually give you longevity, vitality and lasting internal health. What food philosophy do you follow?

There’s lots of buzzwords in the health and nutrition world. To put it simply, I believe in a nutrient dense, whole foods diet that includes the proper ratio of protein, fat and carbohydrates, unique to each person. I believe that the closest we can get to eating how our ancestors ate, the better. I believe in filling your plate first with the most nutrient dense foods, finding balance in your life and achieving real food freedom. Each person has different needs and different goals in different seasons of life. I don’t believe in dogma, diet culture or polyunsaturated fats. Your diet changes as you change.

Do you work with vegans or vegetarians?

I do not. I’m not educated on how to nutritionally support women without including animal foods. I strongly believe they are the foundation of a healthy, balanced diet, and it would go against almost everything I believe about food and nutrition to coach someone in this lifestyle. If you are vegan or vegetarian, and looking for nutritional therapy, you can reach out to me for some recommendations on who exactly to connect with here. If you’re currently vegan or vegetarian, and you’re open and willing to reintroduce animal products, I’d love to work with you and help educate you on the importance of them. What one of your programs is best for me?

I currently only offer one coaching option. 1:1 nutritional therapy coaching is the most intensive and in-depth. We go as deep as you want to go during our time together. I’m working on offering more services and options, such as group coaching, a self guided holistic nutrition course, and other courses specific for certain needs, so stay tuned for some of those other options in addition to 1:1 coaching! For more information on 1:1 nutritional therapy coaching, click here and if you still have questions, book a free discovery call with me here.

Will I be required to purchase anything outside of the price of the course?

It depends. Because nutritional therapy is fully customized to your needs, I may recommend short term supplementation when whole food nutrition just isn’t enough. I always try to use food first, but with modern agriculture, sometimes a little extra help is needed in the form of supplements. These, of course, are optional for your purchase and always just a recommendation. Nutritional therapy is, by nature, foundational health, meaning that you’re going to be spending money on food either way… so let’s maximize the nutrients in that food to serve you best. If you’re on a tight grocery budget, we can work with that. If you’re ready to invest in more expensive groceries, that’s great to.

Do you work with men?

I do not currently work with men. I specialize in women’s health and because of that, I don’t know enough about men’s health to feel comfortable taking male clients. If you’re a man interested in nutritional therapy, reach out to me and I can point you in the direction of some other practitioners that can help with mens health!

How do I become a nutritional therapy practitioner myself?

I’m so glad you asked! It truly is the best job. I became a certified nutritional therapy practitioner through the Nutritional Therapy Association (NTA), a 10 month online course that was founded in 1997. Studying with the NTA was amazing, and after looking into other similar nutrition courses, the NTA truly stood out among them all. I do offer mentoring services for prospective NTA students, or a free 30 minute discovery call to answer any questions you might have about the NTA and becoming a practitioner. Just reach out to me here.

Is nutritional therapy a substitute for medical advice or doctors orders?

Absolutely not. Nothing I say to my clients is diagnostic in nature. I am unable to treat or heal anyone, it is outside of my scope of practice. Nutritional therapy is designed to support your body’s natural metabolic functions with eating a whole food, nutrient dense diet. It is in no way a substitute for medical advice or the care and instruction of a medical professional. Nutritional therapy is designed to cater to each individual person, this means you could be on zero medications or supplements, or on strict doctors orders to manage a diagnosis. I work alongside doctors orders, to support your needs nutritionally. Not heal, treat or diagnose.
